Legend of the Moonbow

A Moonbow is thought to be one of the rarest of delights -- timing, conditions, and natural beauty come together to form an ethereal waterfall delight few will witness.  Water, light, darkness and nature provide such treats rarely.  Legend is, those who witness a Moonbow will have special talents or blessings bestowed upon them during the course of their lives.  Touching others, making a difference, or simply being comfortable with oneself.

Only two or three waterfalls in the world have the conditions needed to create a moonbow, a delicate and magical combination of mist and lunar light.  Cumberland Falls, with its wide arc, muscular flow, and dramatic 68-foot drop onto craggy, mist-making rocks, is the only such site in the western hemisphere.  But a moonbow won't appear on cue: Even on clear nights with a full moon, we have yet to see one.
